Dayton O. Newton was born in New York in 1909. In Rye his family lived at 82 Central Ave. Dayton served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Dayton Newton,' '' led academy band WISCASSET, Maine
Dayton O. Newton, 79, a former band directtor, died Sunday at home. ; He was the former head of music and band director at Admiral FarraguJ Academy, Pine Beach, N.J., from 195 until 1971.
While at the academyiie and the students restored the schooner Emma C. Berry, which is now at Mystic Seaport, Mystic, Conn.
Mr. Newton was a retired Navy lieutenant commander, serving in World War II. He was a resident of Pine Beacn'' for many years before moving, Maine in 1975.
M-j His wife, Mary, died three months ago. Surviving is one son, John, Wj-casset. Funeral arrangements were made in Maine.
